7 steps towards a safer planet Earth
Note: Some sections are incomplete/missing due to lack of time. Sincere apologies.
It is truly said by PrinceEa that “We spend billions of dollars looking for life on other planets and spend killing trillions of dollars killing this one”. It is high time to act than to campaign and enumerate the reasons which are killing the life and resources on our planet. Failing which, it would cost an arm and a leg for our children and their children to avail the basic necessities to life- food, air and water. So let’s make no delay in learning how to make the below 7 simple steps towards a safer planet Earth.
Understand growth
The key to growth is the introduction of higher dimensions of consciousness in to awareness - Lao Tzn
What we see around is increasing greed than need. As a result of deforestation, only 2.4 million square miles remain of the original 6 million square miles of forest that formerly covered the Earth. Isn’t that alarming? Industrial revolution has exceeded its limitations of natural resource consumption with its increasing pace to reach higher monetary targets everyday. It is a surprising fact that farmers who are unaware of the worth and availability of the resources beneath the soil they grow, are selling their agricultural lands to the industrialist who are in turn making products or services using those resources and selling back to us at very high price relative to its manufacturing cost. This is effecting both our ecology and economy. We need to educate ourselves and our community about the real motive which lay behind the ostensible growth.
Use bio degradable products
Its reported that an average American creates nearly four and half pounds of trash every day. An environmental activist Rob Greenfield who was found wearing 30 days worth of garbage around New York city says, “it(trash) goes to either the landfill or the ocean. To get it to the landfill, garbage trucks need to drive around using fossil fuels; those trucks get three miles to the gallon”. This implies we are proposing new problems as solutions to the existing problems. Instead, we can encourage the use bio degradable products which prove to be prominent solution to the increasing waste in the form of plastic, electronics and metals.
As biodegradable products are made out of organic compounds, they break down easily, decompose and hence are also renewable. These products require lesser energy for production and are non toxic in nature. As pointed in the previous step, we need solutions which are ecological as well as economical. And biodegradable products fall in that category.
Consumerism
In case you are among those consumers who buy products which are cheaper and artificial alternatives, then its time for you to realise that you buying them on the cost of your children if not, yours.
Community
Two ants do not fail to pull one grasshopper
- Tanazian proverb
There are many instances in the history of human existance that has proved the strength in unity. Let us join our hand together to share the knowledge, bring the awareness, educate our children about the above pratices which can bring the positive change everywhere around. Each one of us are the pieces in the puzzle, who needs to join in the right way to form a solution.
